Environmental responsibility is not only a hot news topic; it’s the right thing to do!

Here is a sample of the eco-friendly practices that are incorporated into my services:

  • Bio-degradable cleaners: I use Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap, Eco Blah as an all purpose cleaner for counter tops and occasionally the floor!

  • Water conservation: As I’m waiting for the hot water to reach the tap, I catch the cold water for use in cooking or washing later on in the day.  With permission, I can also water plants with used water from steaming or cooking pasta.

  • Composting: I donate the left over vegetable “trash” from my cook dates to various gardens for composting.  This keeps the biodegradable waste out of the land fills and actually benefits the local gardens soil replenishment programs.

  • Reducing:  I help all my clients prevent the wasting of not only cooked food, but also raw material food with menu management and clear labeling and instructions for the dishes I leave in their refrigerator.

Recycling/Reusing: I use cloth bags for groceries instead of plastic or paper.  I also recycle glass and plastic food packaging.

If you have any eco friendly practices that aren’t listed here, please share them!
